Blogging as a Daily Journal
Blogging isn’t what it used to be, that’s for sure! I recently came across my very first blog post. It was written on April 4, 2009, and it looked like this:
It was pretty momentous news for my very first post!
All my mommy friends were posting their lives on Blogspot, and I wanted to join in the fun! I kept up with it for a little while…well, about a year. Then, my family moved, had another child, and social media took over as the “daily journal.”
Blogging to Serve YOU
A couple years ago, my sister (Cam) and I started this blog. We wanted to have a common goal, for the common good. We wanted to work together to serve others…to serve YOU! So, while blogging isn’t what it used to be, we believe it’s better!
For as many similarities as we have, we are also very different. This is a plus for you, our readers, as we can cover more bases for you!
I (Nic, on the left) am the nerdy accountant. Numbers are my jam. I keep it pretty old school. My passions are travel and (at least for this season of life) homeschooling.
Cam is the artist/stylist. She keeps it creative. Cam deftly handles much of our lifestyle content, with a fabulous style all her own.
Nic&Cam “We Wills”
- We will always write about things we are passionate about, and we hope it’s helpful to you in some way. If our posts would help someone else you know, pass along our info!
- We will always give our honest opinions…about places we visit…about products we love.
- We will take what we’ve learned and use it to help others in the same situation, such as those with sun sensitivity.
- We will always keep it real, while keeping it PR-friendly!
YOU!
We value you! We value your time and your opinions.
We’re real people, just like you.
We know you have real lives, with real families, real jobs, real joys, and real challenges.
And through it all, we hope to get to know you a little better each time we connect.
And as we do, we look forward to keepin’ it real with you!
Nic&Cam
How can we help you travel better, or homeschool better, or make more informed product choices? Or…??? Please share in the comments below!

Thanks, Lynn! Much appreciated! Keep letting us know where we need to eat next time we’re in San Diego!
So inspiring! Thank you for sharing the “we wills”! Love it!
So true! I had my fair share of journaling blog posts many, many years ago too. Now it’s about serving your audience and I’m loving that transition. Keep up the good work!
Great intro! Looking forward to hearing more from you!
Love it! I love a servants heart!
Great blog and concept!
Blogging truly has evolved so much through the years. Itās exciting to be a part of its growth now, wouldnāt you say? šš»
Totally agree, Maggie! Thanks!
Out of curiosity, I just looked at my first blog post on. The blog that I had before this one. It was in April of 2010. We really do write differently today in 2018. I suppose that that is a good thing, though, because we are all growing as writers. Thanks for the food for thought.
This is great, I always chuckle when I tell people that I blog and they think I am keeping an online diary.
Love it! I too have been blogging for years and I can SO see the difference between my early posts and my more recent ones.
I love that you and your sister are doing this together! What a great way to strengthen family ties!
This is great! I totally remember when all my friends started blogs as a type of journal to share with family and friends… It sure has changed since then!
Blogging has been a great way to channel my feelings. It has allowed me to pull back from unhealthy habits like watching the news, and start to help others through my blog. This is a great post and look forward to seeing much more.
This is the way I think, as well. I don’t want to be anything less than authentic, but I do like to stay positive. Great way to keep it real with your readers.
Thanks for keeping it real! Can’t wait to read what’s next!
I love seeing the changes through the years as blogs (and bloggers) evolve and grow.
That’s really cool! I love the throwback to your first post.
Love this! Yes, blogging has changed so much. Who knows what version of it we will have in 10-20 years?! No matter what, it increases communication. Great post!
I love the “we wills” piece. I’m going to remember that@
Thanks, Shanna!
Well said! There is a pretty doverse blogging population but frankly, I am selfish as a reader. What does the content provide for me? Sometimes that is sharing in othersā joyous life moments and often that is content I can do something with. You gals are rockinā it!
Much appreciated, Tiffany!
This is a great post! I love having parameters on my blog that answer certain questions every time I post. It keeps me focused. Love your set of “We Will’s”
It’s so true how much it has changed. Part of me wishes I had gotten into blogging earlier!
I started off blogging the same way back in 2009! I used to journey the girls as they grew up! So different now!
Love this idea and look forward to reading more.
