Mommin’ the Laundry

For reals, moms. How many loads of laundry a week? And then there’s all the detergents to choose from…and fabric softener…and dryer sheets…and ironing or steaming. But I digress.

Laundry is mommin’ big time.

I remember once in high school, in Arizona, in 100°F+ weather, I decided to wash a certain undergarment one afternoon. In a top-loading washing machine. Using a full load setting. I definitely didn’t understand water & electric utility bills back then! Needless to say, my mom was not happy when she found out. You seriously washed a single item using a full load setting? Um, yes?

Mommin' the Laundry - Washing Machine

When I got married, and my husband and I both had full time jobs, we would do a single load of laundry each evening during the week. This was so our weekends wouldn’t be taken up with laundry, and one load of laundry per night didn’t really take too long. It was just the two of us.

Now that we have two kids and we homeschool, my goal is to get all the laundry done on one weekday.

One really crazy weekday!

I start the first load as early as possible (well, who am I kidding…”early” is very relative for me). Anyway…”as early as possible.” And then the whole rest of the day goes about like this:

Laundry
Breakfast
Laundry
Homeschool
Laundry
Homeschool
Laundry
Homeschool
Laundry
Lunch
Laundry
Laundry
Laundry
Dinner

Whew!

BUT, the laundry is done for the week (except things that need ironing and/or steaming).

Not so fast!

Like a minute after laundry day is done, there are those stains that can’t wait a whole week to get washed. And those things that need to be clean and ready to wear before the next laundry day (ballet outfits, P.E. clothes, that favorite shirt, etc.). And then there’s that new red top that I need to wash by itself.

What to do?!?!?

These days, I know more than I want to about water & electricity bills! How can we keep mommin’ the laundry, whilst not running full loads of laundry for one item?

Enter the LG TwinWash system.

LG has paired their front-load washer with the LG SideKick, which is itself a one cubic foot washer that acts as a pedestal to raise your front-load washer. The SideKick and front-load washer operate independently, so you can wash in hot & cold at the same time…or wash reds & whites at the same time…or you-name-it.

Solution: The SideKick (my favorite thing about the LG TwinWash system)

Now, the aforementioned undergarment, or red shirt, or stained clothes, can be washed in the SideKick, using its smaller capacity to your advantage. The SideKick has six distinct cycles: Normal, Intimates, Hand Wash, Active Wear, Rinse + Spin, and Tub Clean (for keeping your SideKick clean and fresh smelling). Why wasn’t this around when I was in high school?!?!?

For all the loads of laundry…big and small…LG TwinWash can help.
