I had the opportunity this last year to be a part of the Five Solas Project with the Brehm Center. I added Children’s Book Illustrator to my resume when I finished the illustrations for Growing God’s Way: Stories & Songs of the 5 Solas, written by Grace Chung. This was a challenging yet fulfilling project for me. It came at a time where I was really questioning my artistic talents, and confirmed that this is something I want to pursue…even at 37 years old!
I was also asked to create a few pieces that would help to celebrate the 500 Year Anniversary of the Reformation. The first piece is my own rendition of The Luther Rose. I’ve made this available in a Giclee Print or digital download on my Etsy Shop. I also offer a Standard License for Commercial Use. After speaking to a few other artists, I thought this would be useful for small churches to use my artwork for their Reformation celebrations in 2017.
The second piece I created was for the Five Solas. Scripture Alone, Faith Alone, Grace Alone, Christ Alone, Glory to God Alone. This is also available in a Giclee Print or digital download on my Etsy Shop.
It should be a fun year to see how people and churches alike celebrate such a special anniversary. I’m guessing most will celebrate on Reformation Day, which will be October 31 but hope to see events earlier in the fall.

Love your work with the Luther Rose and the five solas! Well done.
The Lutheran Church of New Zealand, small as it is, has done some wonderful things to commemorate the Reformation this year, and still has some things planned. You can check some of this out at: http://www.lutheran.org.nz/reformation-500.
