Less than a year ago, I decided that I needed to do something about my increased post-baby weight. The only thing that had really worked for me pre-children was following the Atkins plan (now better known as ketogenic eating). Besides helping me lose weight, it also helped me feel better. Gone were many stomach issues, joint and muscle pain, and food-related headaches. It also allowed me to eat super delicious amazing foods. (Stay tuned for a post about the blueberry cheesecake I now eat for breakfast!) Although the benefits are many, one of the things that tends to be missing for me by eating this way is crunchiness. I’m talking chips, crackers, cereal, pretzels, etc….all the things that are amazingly tasty but not amazing for my body. As such, I was on a mission to find a new group of Favorite Foods That Crunch…ones that tasted great & wouldn’t have the negative effects on my body that carb and gluten-filled products do. I’m happy to report that I was successful in my quest!
Favorite Foods That Crunch #1: Whisps (or alternatively, Trader Joe’s Oven-Baked Cheese Bites)
Chips and, even moreso, crackers are my biggest downfall. I’d choose salty over sweet pretty much every time. So, when I found Whisps at Costco, I was ecstatic! They provide the super crispy crunch & the saltiness that I craved.
More recently, Trader Joe’s started carrying Oven-Baked Cheese Bites, which are very similar to Whisps.
Favorite Foods That Crunch #2: KZ Clean Eating Cereal
KZ Clean Eating Cereal has no added sugar, is non-GMO, Paleo, gluten-free, and delicious! It’s crunchtastic, very filling, and I love the flavor! Pour some in a bowl, add as much unsweetened almondmilk as you’d like, and eat away…just like a regular bowl of cereal.
Favorite Foods That Crunch #3: Blue Diamond Salt & Vinegar Almonds
Besides original nacho cheese Doritos, my favorite chip flavor is salt & vinegar. Imagine my surprise & delight when I discovered these Blue Diamond Salt & Vinegar Almonds! They are amazing!
In addition to changing some eating habits, I also figured out a great way to add some exercise in whilst blogging or doing other computer work (DIY Treadmill Desk)!
